The Royal Wedding has gone to the Dogs and its no suprise to industry insider and trend spotter Cynthia Waldenmaier.
When Cynthia released her forecast on Pet Style and Design trends earlier this year, she featured “Royal Hounds” as one of the key trends to watch. The Founder of the Interior Design Hound sifts through thousands of products at industry tradeshows to sniff out the Top Pet Design Trends.
“It was clear the British were coming,” according to Waldenmaier, “and they weren’t leaving their Royal Hounds back at Buckingham Palace! The British Union Jack has made a strong showing at the High Point Furniture & Accessory Market the past few seasons, and it has now invaded the Dog Park.”
Waldenmaier says there’s good reason to pay attention to what’s new in the Dog Park this year: $50,000,000,000 reasons in fact. Pet Industry spending is projected to top $50 billion this year according to the American Pet Products Association.
In addition to the Union Jack, crown motifs and regal design elements are making appearances on dog collars, dog beds and pet feeders. The new bedding collection from Unleashed Life features the William Dog Bed, appliqued with a King-sized crown.
The Royal Wedding has both fueled sales and inspired designs.
“Couples have included their four-legged friends in weddings for years,” laughs Waldenmaier, “so why not a Royal Wedding fit for Hounds?”
