Meet Interior Design Hound Jaima Brown…

…and her Dog Daisy, a Black Labrador Retriever.

The designer creates beautiful fabric & wallpaper collections for her company: Jaima Brown Home.

Jaima’s design inspirations are often found in her English heritage, travels, antique document fabrics, and, of course, her love of Dogs.

Here’s a perfect example…

Jaima found a fantastic antique document fabric featuring hunting Dogs.  Irish Setters, English Setters and Pointers were on the hunt in patches of grass on a solid ground.

There was something about the spirit of the Dogs that reminded Jaima of Midnight, her previous Black Lab.

The beloved Black Labrador Retriever was certainly no hunting Dog, but a bone-a-fide Interior Design Hound. 

Midnight was Jaima’s constant shadow, as well as a source of comfort and inspiration for everyone working in the design studio. 

So why not create a design in the Dog’s honor? 

Jaima decided to update the vintage English Hunt Fabric, by cleaning up the pattern and adding a Black Labrador Retriever to the design.

“Midnight” pays tribute to both of Jaima Brown’s Black Labs, and is available in both wallpaper & fabric from the Retreat Collection.

The Dog wallpaper has a pattern repeat of 25.25” and is available in four colorways: 

• Ochre (yellow, as seen above)
• Pepper (red)
• Chocolate
• Navy

The Dog-loving designer created “Midnight” to be Pet-friendly with a 100% cotton fabric that is treated with a soil repellent.

I believe the designer has experience with muddy paw prints!

So how do you design a Dog inspired room without looking too “Doggy?”  

It is easy if you remember:  when it comes to decorating, less really is MORE.

If you cover every available surface in Dogs, you’ll go barking mad. 

Begin by selecting a color scheme…let’s choose red pepper:

By selecting the Dog fabric for upholstering the club chairs and the Roman shades below, the Dogs are not overwhelming.   

The walls are covered in Jaima Brown’s Arabesque wallpaper (color: Pepper/multi) with Arabesque fabric draperies (color: Caramel).

Who knows what Dog designs might turn up on Jaima Brown’s drawing board next?  

With Daisy, the adorable Black Labrador Retriever, all grown up now, I can only imagine the design possibilities.
