Do you like to visit Designer Showhouses?
I admit it, I’m a Designer Showhouse Junkie.
I’ve traveled near & far to visit Designer Showhouses to admirie the work created by talented Interior Designers across the Country.
Many years ago, one of my first adventures as an Interior Designer was creating designs for two rooms in a Designer Showhouse.
Both were bathrooms. They were the smallest & most outdated spaces in the Showhouse, but as a newbie to the business (and the city), it was an both an honor & a wonderful opportunity to show my work.
I know first hand how much hardwork & inspiration it takes to create any room in a Designer Showhouse. so that’s why I was so impressed with the recent Designer Showhouse in Cashiers, North Carolina:

Not only was the the Cashiers Designer Showhouse in a setting to die for, but every room in Reflections was as lovely as the location.
Reflections was originally built in 1967 with logs reclaimed from Tennesee Valley Authority housing sites. You can watch a “before” video of the spaces here.
While the Showhouse Committe made it look effortless, co-ordinating the work of 23 Interior Designers, artists and landscape architects is no easy task!
Each room of the Designer Showhouse was transformed… Don’t you L O V E the front porch swing designed by Dianne Estes?

The Lounging Porch, designed by Francie Hardgrove above, was amazing.
The log home was filled with style, sophistication and plenty of Southern charm.
Speaking of Southern charm, Rhoda from the blog Southern Hospitality took the photographs of the beautiful outdoor spaces above. (You can check out her blog here for more pictures.)
Many of my favorite Dog-loving Interior Designers made the trip to the Cashiers, including Charles Faudree whose heart belongs to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels:

Charles Faudree, who has a home in Cashiers, created the beautiful entry with an ecletic mix of French antiques, framed scenic wallpaper panels and a striking modern lucite desk accented by fabulous accessories.
You can find out more about the Southern designer & his Dogs here.
Faudree had a book signing at the Designer Showhouse for his new book Charles Faudree Details. I have enjoyed all of his beautiful books because you can always find Dogs sprinkled throughout the pages snoozing in the most wonderful spaces!
Guess who else showed up in Cashiers for the Designer Showhouse? My favorite Dog-loving Interior Designers from Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Decorators:

Those Million Dollar Decorators get around!
Nathan Turner & Mary MacDonald were the special guests at a luncehon hosted by the Cashiers Historical Society at the Saphire Valley Country Club.
Afterwards, Mary signed her book The Allure of Style. You can find more about the Pug-loving Million Dollar Decorator & glamorous Fashion Hound Mary McDonald here and the designer, merchant & Labrador Retriever-loving Nathan Turner here.
I can now add a NEW Dog-loving Interior Designer to my favorites list:
Sally Johannessen & Dogs. Image: Lisa Parker
Sally is a serious Dog fancier that shares her life with seven rescued four-legged friends! (That’s one of her Dogs in the first photo above.)
So I’d say Sally Johannessen is an official Interior Design Hound!
She created my favorite space in the Cashiers Designer Showhouse, a delightfully Dog-themed space called the “Gallery of Dogs.”
Sally is not only an Interior Design Hound, she is an Artistic Hound and the owner of a wonderful antique store named Dovetail Antiques in Cashiers.

Sally Johannessen filled the Gallery of Dogs with soooooo many Dog antiques and design details that it is going to take an entire post to share them all!
So, if you love Dogs, design and Canine antiques stay tuned…I’ll share the Gallery of Dogs details tomorrow!
Don’t miss it, it’s a treat.
Later, I’ve got to let the Dog out,
