Design Trend: Dogs Have Gone Nuts!

Is it just me, or are things getting a little nutty lately?

Seriously, I’m seeing nuts everywhere

especially acorns.

My Dog is a Fashion Hound when it comes to collars, so I have to get my hands on this acorn Dog Collar.

I think I’ll pick up the bracelet for myself.

The International Style Hound Tamara Comolli designed both the acorn Dog Collar and the bracelet.

You might say that Tamara is the undisputed Queen of acorns.  The jewelry designer’s collection of Dog Collars, created for Germany’s leading maker of Dog accessories: Hunter, is a perfect pick for Fall.

Tamara Comolli’s couture details can be seen in every stitch & dangling acorn on the Dog Collars.  The acorns very in color from amber to a nut brown.  A few are even covered Swarovski crystals.

Très chic for chasing squirrels, don’t you think?

Wherever you find acorns, you’re sure to find a few squirrels.  Wherever there’s a mere scent of a squirrel:

there’s a Hound that’s ready to rumble.

This Wheaten Terrier weathervane is so beautiful I’d keep it in the house!

Each Dog weathervane is a work of art made in a studio in the Santa Cruz Mountains by West Coast Weathervanes.

Hand-hammered in copper with gold leafed patterns, the weathervanes can be personalized with your Dog’s name inscribed on the Dog Collar.

West Coast Weathervanes specializes in Dogs and has quite the lineup of Dog breeds in their collection.

Don’t worry if you don’t see one that looks like your four-legged friend, because the artists are happy to make custom weathervanes from your photograph.

Does your Dog dream about chasing squirrels?  Taffy, sure does…

So when I saw this Forest Park Dog Bed created by the Design Hounds at Unleashed Life, I just had to smile!

Not only is the seersucker Dog bed cover washable, but the comfy cushion is odor resistant made from recycled pop bottles.  There’s certainly nothing squirrely about that, is there?

While my Dog is a card carrying member of the Squirrel Patrol, I know Taffy wouldn’t sit still to wear this tee…

I can barely get my Scottish Terrier to wear a coat in the rain & snow! The eco-friendly design is made of an organic cotton & bamboo blend.

What do you think, could I turn it into a pillow, maybe?  Okay, maybe I’m nuts.

But I might just have to add this colorful number by Classic Hound to Taffy’s collection of Dog Collars:

My favorite, nutty designer Jonathan Adler has loads of squirrels in his collection….

I’m sure his Dog Liberace, a Terrier mix, had something to do with Adler’s squirrel obsession.

While Adler’s squirrel clutching the acorn ring box has always been a favorite design of mine, I’m also a fan of his candle holders:

Since I have a black Dog hunting down black squirrels, I’m a fan of like the black candle holders.

It doesn’t really matter if your Dog qualifies for the squirrel patrol, designers and Dogs have literally gone nuts this season…

Later, I’ve got to let the Dog out –

she sees a squirrel,

French Bulldog Style: Wallpaper & French Style Badger Hair Dog Collars

Dog fancier & Designer Dennis Lee’s collection of Tyler Hall wallcoverings features many Canine inspired Designs.

One of my favorite wallpaper patterns is “Cotillion” from the Vieux Carré collection…

The grand scaled pattern is full of Southern style, vibrant colors and a dash of whimsy just like the French Quarter in New Orleans.

With a 32 inch repeat, the ambitious wallpaper is perfect for grand halls & dining rooms.

The colorful pattern , available in 3 colorways, is a cornucopia of Chinoisere, classic, and canine style…

Dennis Lee even managed to incorporated a few Dogs into the wallpaper’s design.

What kind of city would New Orleans be without its decidedly French accent?

French beignets, Brennan’s and Bulldogs…

French Bulldogs appear on the wallpaper wearing Badger Dog Collars, of course.

The stylish collars have long been associated with the French Bulldog and were the peak of fashion in the roaring 1920’s.

The Dog collars feature a spiky ruff made of badger hair. (The same as you’d find on a quality shaving brush.)

Many of the biggest names in fashion have included a Badger Dog Collar in their collection at some point in their history. (You’ll find the Hermès collar here.)

Goyard is still crafting the Dog Collars today.

Founded in 1853 as a trunk maker, Goyard opened a pet department in 1892 for “Dogs, cats and monkeys.”

Dog Harnesses, kennels, Dog shoes, Dog collars and special Dog “touring goggles” were available from Goyard at the turn of the century.

In 2009, Goyard opened a separate store exclusively for pets across from their flagship on Rue St.-Honoré in Paris.

The store is a jewel box of Canine style & history.  If you find yourself in Paris, their store is worth a visit

The polished & fitted fixtures display Goyard’s collection of couture Dog accessories surrounded by photographs illustrating the company’s history.

Be sure to look for the casually stacked, monogramed trunks once belonging to the Duke & Duchess of Windsor.

Goyard’s iconic chevron pattern covers all of the fitted cases, trunks, Dog bowls & Dogs collars with one exception: the Badger Hair Collar.

If you’re not jetting off to Paris anytime soon, take a tour of Goyard’s by watching a video that you’ll find here .

Goyard’s animated website is also worth a look: Le Chic de Chien here.

The Tyler Hall line of wallcoverings is here.  Maybe you’ll spot a few more Dogs…
