Greetings from Los Angeles…

California Dogs Style Hounds of Bauer Pottery

The home of Hip Hounds, Hollywood Dogs & some of the prettiest pottery for Pooches that’s actually made in America:

Bauer Pottery

Interior Design Hounds, collectors and Dog fanciers have had a love affair with the colorful pottery for years.  (Russel Wright, anyone?)

It was the debut of Bauer’s California Pottery collection in 1930 that introduced the brilliant color palette that collectors adore.

The timing for Bauer’s introduction was perfect.  After the depression, American’s needed a jolt of color to brighten up their lives and their home’s décor.

The well designed pottery is not just pretty; Bauer Pottery is responsible for putting the FUN into functional.

Bauer introduced their original Petware line in 1937, and introduced a new Dog bowl style this year.

If you share your life with a long-eared Dog, you’ll appreciate the Dog Bowl’s design just as much as it’s retro style.

Many Dogs’ ears spend chow time IN the water & food bowl.

Here’s just a few Dog breeds with the ear issue:

There is nothing like stepping into a big, wet mess after your Dog laps up a drink of water…

Not only can water damage your floor, but it can be dangerous to you & your Dog’s health. You might slip & fall and your poor pooch could develop ear problems or infections.

Your Canine menu should not include Dog Ear Dip au Jus on a daily basis day, so why not solve the problem in style?

Improve your Dog’s dining experience with the inverted design of the Bauer Pottery Dog bowl.

Designed to keep your Dog’s ears out of the bowl with style, the lines are reminiscent of Bauer Pottery designs of the 1930’s & 40’s.

Created in two sizes, you’re sure to find one to fit your Dog’s dining requirements.

The large Dog Bowl measures in at 7.5 inches high by 4.5” wide and the smaller Dog Bowl is 6 inches high by 4” wide.

Proving classic Canine design doesn’t have to be boring, Bauer Pottery’s Dog bowl is available in four brilliant California inspired colors.

Match ‘em up or have fun by selecting one color for your Dog’s food and another color for the water bowl.

Big ears are not necessary to enjoy dining out of the Dog bowl.

Every Dog will find the Bauer Pottery bowl is a treat, and Interior Design Hounds will appreciate the Dog dish for its classic style & range of colors.

Bauer calls this design a “Cookie Jar,” but my Scottie Dog Taffy & I think it is perfectly suited for Dog treats.

Later, I’ve got to let the Dog out,

Pet Friendly Interiors: Charles Faudreé

Meet two Interior Design Hounds:

Nicholas & Ruby Faudreé.

The beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels  are owned by the King of French Country, Interior Designer Charles Faudreé.   Or is it the other way around?

As fans of the breed know, King Charles II of England was so enamored by his little dogs; he ruled that the King Charles Spaniel should be accepted in any public place, even in the Houses of Parliament.  (There is a French connection…King Charles II was a first cousin of King Louis XIV of France.)

If the King’s Dogs could go anywhere, so can the Dogs of  Charles Faudreé.

They’re welcome in the beautiful homes he designs, and on the lovely furniture.  While Faudreé Interiors are definitely elegant, they are never pretentious.   He believes when it comes to decorating: “It is about the mix, not the match.”  His rooms are livable & comfortable, even for the Dogs.

Charles Faudreé loves Dogs and you often see their influence in his work in the form of Staffordshire figurines, paintings, needlepoint pillows, and decorative accessories.

His philosophy is familiar to Dog Fanciers the world over…

Charles Faudreé even incorporated a Greyhound in his logo.

Can you spot the Greyhound in this Charles Faudreé room?

Nicholas, Charles Faudreé’s Tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has led a busy, well-traveled life.  The lapdog, said by Charles to be “the love of his life,” has appeared on two of his four book covers:

Nicholas has also appeared in countless magazine stories, advertisements and photo shoots.

Don’t think that Ruby, Faudreé’s Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, doesn’t do her part.

Both Dogs have been immortalized in Charles Faudreé’s fabric collection for Vervain.  Cavalier Toile was named in their honor.

The toile  fabric was designed and hand-painted specifically for the collection by Faudreé and is available in 8 colorways. (Red on ecru is shown.)

When toile fabric was first made in France, idyllic scenes featuring the French countryside were predominant. These motifs showed people at work and at leisure, often featuring Dogs in hunting scenes, a favorite pastime of the well-to-do.

In Charles Faudreé’s updated version of the classic fabric, Cavalier Toile, you’ll find Ruby…

…and Nicholas.

Toile fabric can make it is easy to layer and mix patterns in your decorating scheme.  Pair up toile with solids, plaids, stripes and checks for sophisticate style.

Take this check fabric, a cotton blend chenille from Faudreé’s collection.  It is available in 10 colorways…
