Barclay Butera’s Dachshunds Carson & Ashton

The Dachshund is a charming breed.  One that’s bold, intelligent and determined. With his nose to the ground, the Dachshund is always up for the thrill of a new hunt and often acts with courage disproportionate to its size.  You know what they say about Dogs & their owners…

The Dogs have left their paw prints on Barclay Butera’s heart and have managed to leave their tracks in his Collection of Lifestyle Brands as well.

Take, for instance, Barclay’s new line of natural Sisal Rugs by Merida.   His Dogs  “Carson”  and  “Ashton”  make their presence felt in a bold way:  Stripes.

Barclay’s  Textile Collection by  Kravet features beautiful velvets, damasks, silks, chenilles and striking printed linens.

Barclay Butera may be known for his take on the blues, but we’re digging his warm chocolate & cinnamon hues.  And no self-respecting, Dog-loving-Designer can live without a touch of Houndstooth in their home

Butera tips his hat to the classic men’s haberdashery pattern, but he keeps the Houndstooth fresh by creating it on a grand scale.  The Chenille Houndstooth offers more than style though.  It’s heavy duty in the durability department and is a great choice for homes that include Dogs…or kids, or husbands, or people that actual use their homes for  L I V I N G  as opposed to show!

Barclay Butera’s Custom Upholstery Collection is crafted in American workrooms with the upmost attention to detail.  Think couture-for-the home.  Not unlike a fashion house, Butera’s designs come with a custom fit with impeccable tailoring & finishing details to suit the most discerning client.

When you look at an upholstered sofa covered in a light colored, linen fabric (as opposed to a busy pattern or print, which can hide a multitude of sins), it is the equivalent of wearing a tight knit dress.  Every flaw will be magnified.  Every crooked seam, every pleat that doesn’t lay quite right, every wobbly welt… MAG-NA-FLIPPIN’-FIED.

That explains why low-end sofas look like, well… low-end sofas and not this:

Versatility is another Butera trademark.  The Brighton Blanket Bench, from Barclay Butera’s Lifestyle Collection, features hidden, extra storage.  (Always needed, no matter what style the home.)

The multi-functional piece is great when placed at the foot of a bed, as it was in Butera’s Showroom at the fall High Point Market.  It is a nice place to sit & put on your shoes, but any Dog owner recognizes another purpose: its an elegant way to give those short legged friends a way to climb into bed.

Here is the Kingsley Dachshund Fabric…

Chestnut Kingsley by Barclay Butera for Kravet.

It has a pack of Dachshunds printed on linen, in a very grand scale, with a 26” repeat.  To get an idea of the scale, check out the Great Dane sized Dogs on this chair back:

The Dog print features a regal pack of Doxies, including Barclay’s own Dogs Carson & Ashton.  Here’s a bonus you can sink your teeth into: Kingsley is rated heavy duty for durability and has a stain & soil release finish. In other words, it’s a working Dog.

Kingsley is available through Designers in three colorways: Chestnut (as seen above), Dapple and Celestial.

There are just so many design possibilities!
