Cut it out…a Dog that weighs over 1653 pounds?
Yep, it’s true.
And the paper-punching Dog sure looks like a Scottish Terrier to me!

Weighing in at over 1653 pounds (750 Kilograms) and standing at just about 6 ½ feet tall (2 meters), the ginormous Dog was created by the cutting edge graphic designer & artist Noma Bar.
Not familiar with Noma Bar?
The clarity of Noma Bar’s work looks deceptively simple. The New York Times once described him as “a man of few strokes.”
The Artistic Hound is a master of playing when it comes to negative space…just take a look at this:
Look again…
A Dog’s tail is seen in the white negative space, while you’ll notice a Dog’s head in green!
Noma Bar communicates his concepts with an amazingly efficient use of lines and bold colors.
I’ve always appreciated Noma Bar’s deceptively simple looking artwork, but his new paper-punching Scottie is worthy of the Best In Show!
The machine gives new meaning to interactive art.
Noma Bar designed the Dog paper-punch for London’s Design Festival being held next month at Outline Designs (September 17-30).
Christened “Cut-it-Out,” the Dog will allow visitors at the exhibition to create their own artwork from a selection of eight Noma Bar designs…
Once a design is selected, a die cut mold is placed in the Dog’s jaw.
Visitors can select from 36 different colors of paper, rubber or other materials for their Dog-punched master piece.
With one pull on the Dog’s joy-stick teeth, the Scottie’s mouth closes, punching out a colorful piece of artwork!
Take a close look at the paper-punching Dog’s mouth:
The Scottie Dog’s mouth is shaped like a cat. Look closely at the cat and you’ll notice a mouse!
Survival of the fittest is a familiar theme in Noma Bar’s work.
His book Negative Space featured a Bulldog on the cover with a cat & mouse formed by the negative & positive space:

I love the Artistic Hound’s sense of humor.
Here’s Noma Bar’s big, bad wolf:

Bar’s work has been published in books & magazines world-wide, including over 60 cover illustrations.
Clients of the artist have included:
- The New York Times
- V & A Museum
- The Guardian
- GQ Magazine
- Esquire
- Sony
- IBM
In addition to Negative Space, Noma Bar’s book Guess Who? is a visual feast. Personalities of the famous and the infamous are boldly captured by the talented artist within its pages.
This February, Bar’s exhibit in Paris was a smash…
Notice Noma Bar’s iconic hind quarters of a Dog protruding from the art gallery’s wall.

Silly me-
This is what I thought a Dog paper punch looked like:
