Greetings from New York City…

I’m a city Dog at heart, so I love visiting New York for business or pleasure.

Every time I visit, I make tracks to Fishs Eddy.
Have you been? It’s worth a visit next time you’re in NYC.
Shopping Hound Dog Dishes. Image: Fishs Eddy
Around since the late 1980’s, the independently owned store is named after a tiny town (Fishs Eddy, NY population 234) where the owners scored a barn-full of dishes.
Fishs Eddy’s has been selling dinnerware ever since. I never leave their store empty handed.
When Fishs Eddy says “We Do Dishes,” they’re not fooling around. From vintage restaurant china to fun contemporary dinnerware patterns, this kitschy store has it all. They’ll even sell you the Brooklyn Bridge!
Here’s a look at their iconic 212 New York Skyline dinnerware pattern…

Made in the USA by Homer Laughlin, it is the same weighty restaurant china you’d find in a retro diner or coffee shop. My set is so old, the pattern included the Twin Towers in the skyline. (Sigh.)
The folks at Fishs Eddy are firm believers in the pile-it-high-and-watch-it-fly philosophy of retailing. You never know what you might discover in the gravity defying stacks of dishes.
Years ago, Fashion Hound Cynthia Rowley created a colorful pattern for Fishs Eddy that featured a Scottie Dog.

Okay, I agree…it is a mere speck of a Scottie Dog, but I love the colorful pattern!
Looking for a larger breed of DOG?
Alright, come…

Fishs Eddy created a collection that’s just perfect for your favorite Dog trainer. (or Dog groomer, Pet sitter, Dog walker or Dog Lover!)

A variety of retro-style Dogs illustrate commands they learned at Doggy Daycare:
- Sit !
- Beg
- Stay
- Come
- Fetch
- Shake
- Speak
- Go Home
- Play Dead
The pack of Fishs Eddy Dogs includes Labrador Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels, German Shepherds and a few mixed breeds.
The Dog pattern is available on drinking glasses, mugs and a 6 inch “Pet Bowl” that’s fun to use for soups, salads and snacks.
Okay, I confess…they also are available in cats. (Do not tell Taffy.)
Interior Design Hounds will love the Fishs Eddy Floorplan collection…
The architectural floorplans feature typical high-rise apartment layouts that you’d find in the big city.

With several sizes & designs to choose from, you can dine on dishes ranging from a studio apartment (5” plate) to a penthouse (12” Platter).
If you are a real Interior Design Hound, you just might find yourself playing with your food.
Seriously. I find myself pushing around my peas & carrots with a fork trying to create the perfect furniture arrangement. (An ocupational hazard.)
With no co-op board approval needed, Fishs Eddy makes purchasing a New York apartment a breeze.
The Luxury Apartment 20” napkin is a steal at $5.95…

As an Interior Design Hound, I’d say the Floorplan napkin is a pillow just waiting to happen.
For a Dog-gone easy decorating project, just add trim & an interesting fabric and you’ve got yourself a designer pillow!
What Interior Design Hound (or Realtor) wouldn’t love that?
Later, I’ve got to let the Dog out,
You can find the Fishs Eddy Store here.
