And so am I.
I love baskets from willow to rattan to woven cane.
Baskets add texture to interiors and look good in any décor.

Gawd forbid, our Dogs furnishings do not coordinate!
So, here’s the Rattan Dog Feeder to match:

Dog Baskets are certainly not a new trend and neither is coordinating your Dog’s furnishings to your own.
Check out the “Drawing Room Dog Lounge” from 1896, below.
The Dog basket was “lined in seal-skin and trimmed in bright red satin to match the decorations of the customer’s apartment.”
Brocade and plush were also offered as lining options for the custom Dog Baskets.

The Dog baskets were made by Barrett’s in London whose “proprietors catered to Dandy Dogs” at the turn of the century.
Special order Dog baskets from Barretts:
“could be attached to cycles, so that the mistress can take her own daily exercise and give her beloved pet an airing at one and the same time.”

So, it seems Dog baskets have always been in style.

I find any kind of wicker and rattan gets chewed to bits around here. I board dogs in my home, so they just don’t work. My own dogs just do an occasional gnaw-job on the corners.
Terry that’s a good point. I always say that Pet Friendly decorating is not one-size-fits-all!
You have to know your Dog…and baskets are NOT for Dogs that are known to chew or for puppies in that chewing stage.
They are terrific for other Dogs, though. A quality willow basket can even be hosed off.
Thanks for your comment, Terry!
I bought wicker dog baskets from the Johannesburg Workshop For the Blind in 1992 and they are STILL in great shape after almost 20 years of daily use!!!
You can’t beat wicker and cane. It is easy to clean, it looks great and the dogs LOVE LOVE LOVE their baskets – even with the odd bit of minor gnawing.
Hey there! Was wondering where you can buy this Rattan Dog Feeder. Image: Happy House??
Don’t see it on the site it’s linked to.
Thanks// Nadia
Hello Nadia,
I do not see the Rattan Feeder on the Happy-House site any longer, so I contacted the company to find out where you could purchase the item. I’ll send you an email as soon as I have the information. I love all of their rattan items, the are beautifully made and very popular all over Europe!
Thanks for your question-
Cynthia
