Barclay Butera claims he doesn’t believe in “design rules,” but I disagree. Comfort always rules supreme in Butera’s designs, whether commercial or residential.

Check into the L’Auberge Del Mar Hotel if you don’t believe me. It’s a hip, British Colonial-meets-Hollywood hotel. Butera designed the entire seaside resort from the exterior colors and landscaping, to the interiors.

It has a sophisticated, fresh color palette of celadon accented with sand-inspired neutrals, and dark chocolates. And it is delicious.
Luxurious velvets, mohair, and leathers are used throughout with natural raffia & sisal providing texture & contrast. C O M F O R T is king, especially in the Guest Suites, with the layers of cool, crisp bed linens.

Another comforting touch at the hotel is Sofie L’Auberge. The resident Dog of the resort is on hand to greet you if your four-legged friend is back at home. A working Dog, Sophie’s in charge of the hotel’s L’Petite Pooch Program.

The $26 hospitality project, features furniture, textiles and accessories from Barclay Butera’s portfolio of Home Collections…almost exclusivly.
That makes for one amazing showroom, don’t you think?
Barclay has that rare combo needed for success: Extraordinary Talent + Business Acumen. And let’s not forget his work ethic.
Barclay Butera works hard… and that’s not a bad thing.
Just ask Sophie.
Later, I’ve got to let the Dog out,
